For a first timer on photo printer, I was quite proud of myself for putting it togeter out of the box. The installation process was easy, print quality was compatible to the one-hour photo print you get in the stores. Took me awhile to figure out how to print 4 imagies on 1 print. Overall, it is easy to use for basic 4x6 prints, printing from memory card or from camera. Unfortunately it does not print from computer and cannot print other sizes. Unless you only want to do 4x6 prints and don't use a computer, get something more advanced as you will quicky get bored of it and want more.

I probably the nth person to praise this lens because it really deserves the credit. I'm not a professional photographer nor am I a novice shooter. I'm just your typical guy who takes shots whenever I have the time to get away from the stress of life. After going through several lenses in the past year I have to admit this was the only lens that met my needs. The quality of the pictures I took are superb and nothing beats the freedom of having a wide shot. No more backing up to eternity to fit everything in the pic. The bonus for me is the weight. Unlike other quality lens that I have handled, this is just right. Not to heavy, not to light. It fits just right on a canon t1i. I'm sure that everybody else will have second thoughts to buy this lens especially because of the price. All i can say is that no regrets. In my opinion its worth the price and definitely worth saving up for. I call it a dream lens because among all lenses that I used, it was the only one that gave a realistic capture of life's precious moments. I highly recommend it.

Love the Tripod- it is extremely lightweight and so easy to set up. As soon as I got the flash, I inserted the batteries and starting taking pictures. I did tests with the Speedllite and with the pop-up flash on my Cannon rebel xti. Definitely a great difference in the close up portraits I took. No Red eye and with the speedlight, the light was a bit brighter. The big difference was when I put a diffuser on the Speedlite. Made the photos look bright but without the bright contrast. I recommend the OMEW Omni Bounce diffuser to put on the flash when taking portraits. Very inexpensive and does the job. I took my camera with new flash to an event where I took over 250 portraits and all came out great with the Speedlite. Did not have to change the batteries at all.

Well to start off, if you want reviews about the bag, look for the bag only. There is a little bit of wiggle room on either side of your camera, but it's not terrible.

the kit, is ok. You know you get what you pay for. If you buy the backpack alone, it's the same price as with the kit. So might as well get the extra. But you get what you pay for. The kit, is not that great, but will do fine for someone starting out. The tripod I havent had problems with yet. It will NOT handel ANY abuse. But it's a good tripod if you dont have one, or you want one you can let your kids use. Or you can sell it on Ebay if you have a better one. As a sidenote, the tripod has levles on two spots that I've seen, and it comes with a case.

All in all, I say go for it. It's the same price as getting just the bag, and it doesnt diminish the bags value by any means. you just get some free stuff.

I wanted to wait until I used the Camera before writing the review. The main reason I bought this camera is as a "step up" from my point-and-shoot Panasonic that always performed well for me and I will continue to use for some photos, but I wanted to be able to use different lenses and also have access to the RAW photo format. RAW images can be worked over with Photoshop (which I haven't bought yet) and are very large files holding much more data about the image than the point-and-shoot jpeg photo image files. You cannot edit jpeg images (that I know of). I attended a seminar given by Rick Sammon, a professional photographer, and was in awe of the things he can do with an image (correct all colors so the sky is not washed out to nothing, for example- Google his web page or YouTube for photography instruction). I am working my way toward richly colored images, and away from the kind of pictures we all take on vacation where the skies are not as wonderful as we remembered, the trees are not as green, you know....

I mainly photograph outdoor scenes, landscapes, wildflowers, nature scenes and also people-story images. I wanted a camera with different lenses for wide angle landscapes and also a telephone lens for animal and people close ups (without being close up). The package I bought from Cameta Camera through Amazon came with an 18-55mm lens and also a 75-300 lens. The lenses just screw on and off. Now then, the GOODIE BAG that came with this package from Cameta included a really nice camera "gadget" bag that holds the camera, lenses, extra cords, batteries, and there is room to spare. The bag I got is well made (I read some reviews about a cheap bag, mine is wonderful). ALSO I GOT an 8 gig card to use in the camera, I can take photos till the cows come home and not run out of room, even in the RAW giant sized photo image file. ALSO I received two camera batteries with a recharger, so I will never run out of power in the middle of the day. I ALSO received a card reader which makes it very easy to remove the card from the camera, plug it in the reader and then directly into my computer USB port, I never even had to install any software on my MAC, just plug in and download the images. This is the kind of little stuff that really adds up after you have decided to buy a camera and sort of deflates your concept of getting a good deal. I recommend buying the "outfit" as it is more painless way to commit to your purchase, plus you will need this stuff anyway and save some $$.

The camera was ready to use out of the box - just insert card and battery and that's all. There is a dial with pre-set functions to take landscapes, macro, portrait shots, shutter priority or aperature priority, but if you want to you can also manually adjust whatever you want to, the ISO, etc. I am still learning about how to choose these options but am not shanghaied until I finish my education. I opened the box in the evening, put the battery in the camera, screwed on the telephoto lens and took a photo of a painting in the next room, pretty much in the dark, and was amazed that the focus was so clear, and the flash just right. Amazed. This is not something you can do with a point-and-shoot.

One thing I have noticed is that the focus you see in the view finder is ACCURATE. There are red lights showing the EXACT area the lens is focused on, and if you move the camera and therefore the focus, you might not get the shot you want. For instance, I was out in a duck blind with the telephoto lens on, the camera was set to take photos continuously, and I was capturing images of ducks coming in to land on the lake water. Since the ducks were moving, and I was following them with the camera the red dots in the viewfinder were not always squarely on the flying ducks, so I was not always focusing directly on the duck. If you are not taking images of moving things, no problem. Just a head's up, you need to be accurate with your pointing of the lens, the camera will do it's job as you instruct it. I took 535 images over a couple of hours and the card and battery were no where near capacity. Later I was taking photos of some little kids driving wildly around in the yard in a mule, they were larger and easier to get the focus dots pegged on, and they came out perfectly in focus.

All in all, this camera, lenses, and goodies package was money well spent for me. I would recommend shopping with Cameta? Camata? Camera through Amazon (they must have set up a "package deal" between themselves). Shipping was fast, everything received was as expected. If you want to go beyond the point-and-shoot type photo but are boggled with all the brands and choices like I was, and don't want to spend too much money on the wrong thing like I didn't want to, look for a package deal such as this one. Also, check out Rick Sammon, he is giving away a lot of info on his website on how to use this sort of entry level SLR camera to get the most out of the equipment. I love this camera backpack. It was perfect for a long travel trip where I needed protection for my camera but also plenty of extra room to carry other travel supplies . The side opening gave me easy access to my camera so I could be spontaneous during the trip without having to keep digging in & out of the pack.
Though, I felt it was a little big for day hikes, I would have preferred something smaller; it worked perfect as my carry on luggage. I was not traveling with a computer, but I found the added computer space great to put folders and books. The buckles on the lower half make an easy place to roll & cinch a light jacket.
I would call this an ideal 'Travel Pack'.

I will start by saying I buy cheap ink for my printer. And I will follow that by saying HOLY COW can you get some SUPER CHEAP INK for this printer!!! (generic, of course). Convenient and easy-to-use, the ip2000 utilizes Canon's Full-Photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) technology and a 1,088-nozzle print head to produce fine, 2-picoliter ink droplets, resulting in photos with rich detail and subtle shading. Canon's color and pigment-based black inks produce rich, colorful prints, while borderless printing lets you create photos with a professional look and feel.

Color resolution is as high as 4,800 x 1,200 dpi, with black-and-white resolution up to 600 x 600 dpi. Print speeds are as high as 20 ppm in black, 14 ppm in color, while a borderless 4-by-6-inch photo takes about 50 seconds. Additionally, the same drive system responsible for the ip2000's improved print speed also results in a low 43 dB(A) noise level. Easy-PhotoPrint v3.0
While most photo-editing software applications will brighten the entire image, Easy-PhotoPrint 3.0 accurately detects the subject's face and adjusts the skin to the optimum tone. Brighten dark faces caused by bright backgrounds. Choose from one-click automatic to correct the entire image all at once, or manual to correct just a selected area.

Easy-PhotoPrint 3.0 also lets you select and print any image on your PC, perfectly trim images, correct images using lab-quality retouching features, correct red-eye, smooth facial lines and skin tone, sharpen faces, remove blemishes, and print in a variety of sizes and layouts.

Exif Print Technology
Exif 2.2 is the worldwide printer independent standard for digital image processing. Under Exif 2.2, the digital still camera can record data tags for specific camera settings and functions such as whether the flash was on or off, if the camera was in landscape, portrait or night scene mode, etc. Referencing some or all of this information, an Exif Print compatible application can process digital camera images intelligently based on specific camera settings and the shooting environment.
